Angel of the North sculpture by Antony Gormley in Gateshead, south of Newcastle. The angel is a 20 m high sculpture is made of steel and over looks the A1 road on the way into Newcastle Gateshead from the south. The Angel is one of the 12 official 'Icons of England', a major government-sponsored Culture Online project.
