View high resolution full screen version
Askrigg in North Yorkshire is a quintessential Upper Wensleydale village. Askrigg is where the vet James Herriot and author of the famous 'All Creatures Great and Small' once lived. Askrigg has also been famous for its hand knitting and clock making industries. St. Oswalds church in the centre of the village was built in 1466 and is surrounded by the characteristic narrow, cobbled streets, tall Georgian houses and Skeldale house where James Herriott lived.
